Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation receives grant from Virginia Wellington Cabot Foundation for community cruiser

Funding will provide equipment, COVID-19 supplies, vaccinations and translation services CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Virginia Wellington Cabot Foundation to fund immunizations, translation services and COVID-19 infection prevention supplies aboard the Novant Health Community Care Cruiser. Community cruiser team members provide health care services to public health priority areas where underserved children and their families live, worship and attend school. The 40-foot mobile unit is equipped with two examination rooms, a laboratory area, health education area and intake desk.  

Novant Health will add two new members to board of trustees

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health, a not-for-profit health care system serving the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia, is adding two new members to the board of trustees: Brian Eckel and Jason Thompson. Both Eckel and Thompson were members of the Partnership Advisory Group, a 21-member group of hospital board of trustee members, physicians and members of the New Hanover community charged by the county and New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) to determine the future of NHRMC. They will serve as representatives for the Novant Health Coastal Region board of managers and will attend their first meetings in May 2021.

Novant Health’s Angela Yochem inducted into CIO Hall of Fame

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health is proud to announce that Angela Yochem, executive vice president and chief transformation and digital officer, has been inducted into the CIO Hall of Fame from IDG’s CIO. She is one of 11 to receive the award this year. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon a select group of outstanding executives and visionaries who have had a significant impact on the IT profession. Yochem will accept her award at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards in August.

Novant Health receives grant from the Colon Cancer Coalition for colorectal cancer services

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation has been awarded a $22,000 grant from the Colon Cancer Coalition through money raised at the Get Your Rear in Gear event in Winston-Salem. The new partnership between Forsyth Medical Center and Colon Cancer Coalition will fund colonoscopy screenings for low-income, underserved colorectal cancer patients in Forsyth County. The Colon Cancer Coalition has collaborated with Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte each year since 2011.

Novant Health hospitals update visitor restrictions

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – As COVID-19 cases continue to decline in our communities, Novant Health is adjusting its visitor restrictions. As of Monday, March 15, at 8 a.m., most adults and children hospitalized at Novant Health facilities in North Carolina will be allowed to have two visitors per day. Restrictions remain in place for COVID-19 positive patients who are hospitalized or in the emergency room, as well as patients who are under investigation for COVID-19. Exceptions may continue to be granted in special circumstances, such as end-of-life care.

First HBCU-based physical therapy residency program receives accreditation

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Winston-Salem State University-Novant Health Physical Therapy Neurologic Clinical Residency Program recently received full accreditation from the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education. WSSU is the first historically Black college and university (HBCU) in the nation to offer a fully accredited PT residency program.  

Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation receives Duke Endowment grant to support Healthy Rowan

Grant to support evidence-based interventions to address chronic disease and obesity in Rowan County SALISBURY, N.C. – Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation was awarded a $450,000 grant from The Duke Endowment’s Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas initiative to support Healthy Rowan. Healthy Rowan is a coalition of 57 individual members and 25 agencies including county and city government, public schools, faith-based institutions, local businesses and nonprofit organizations that seek to improve health and quality of life in Rowan County through broad-based interventions aimed at obesity and chronic disease. NHRMC Foundation serves as fiduciary agent for the grant, which provides $150,000 annually over three years.

Novant Health breaks ground at Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – As part of its commitment to improving the health of communities throughout Mecklenburg County and beyond, Novant Health today broke ground at Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center. The $180 million investment will bring acute care resources to the growing suburban population in south Charlotte at a 168,000-square-foot state-of-the-art medical facility. Novant Health opens new COVID-19 vaccination clinic in East Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health today announced a new primary location for COVID-19 vaccination appointments in the Charlotte market. Located in east Charlotte’s Triangle Shopping Center, this 29,000-square-foot space will serve as a permanent site with the ability to accommodate up to 3,000 appointments a day, as supply allows.
