Patrick Kennedy visits Novant Health to address stigma associated with mental illness

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health Reads kicks off its 2017 book selection with A Common Struggle by former congressman Patrick Kennedy. In his own words, Kennedy openly shares his struggles with bipolar disorder and addiction. He addresses the stigma associated with mental illness and shares how these brain diseases have impacted both his professional career and personal relationships. Kennedy will visit Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Wednesday, Oct. 4, to share his story.

Novant Health now offering living wage

Novant Health hospital patients will receive activity kits during their convalescence

Winston-Salem, N.C., Feb. 21. 2017 – Novant Health is offering patients the option to choose a Meaningful Activity Kit as one way to help alleviate anxiety and reduce boredom during their hospital stay. Patients receiving care at Novant Health hospitals will be able to choose between kits containing items such as playing cards, puzzle books, an eye pillow and ear plugs or a blank journal/sketchpad.

Area hospitals restrict access to avoid spread of flu

Winston-Salem, N.C., Feb. 23, 2017 – Out of concern for the health and well-being of our patients, Novant Health is asking the community to keep visitors age 12 and under out of all of its hospital facilities due to the widespread outbreak of the flu virus throughout the community. This restriction is effective on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 a.m. until further notice.

Novant Health launches Triad’s first virtual genetic counseling program for cancer risk

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Patients living in remote areas who are concerned about their risk to develop cancer no longer have to drive to a large medical facility to get answers. Novant Health launched this area’s first genetics video visits for cancer risk this month, thereby expanding access to potentially life-saving preventive care conversations. The technology will enable patients to connect with a genetic counselor using Novant Health’s MyChart application and a smartphone or tablet device. Patients without one of these two devices living in and around Kernersville, Thomasville, Salisbury, Wilkesboro, Eden and Mount Airy can schedule their video visits at a designated Novant Health Oncology Specialists clinic in their community.

New provider joins Novant Health Primary Care Associates Madison

Dr. Jeffrey Senfield joins Novant Health Heart and Vascular Institute

Charlotte, N.C., Feb. 20, 2017 – Novant Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Jeffrey Senfield, electrophysiologist, to Novant Health Heart and Vascular Institute in Charlotte. Senfield comes to Novant Health from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he completed his fellowship training in electrophysiology.
