Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 19, 2017– Novant Health Foundation Presbyterian Medical Center received a $350,000 grant from The Duke Endowment to fund a new dental clinic at the Charlotte Community Health Clinic (CCHC). The dental clinic will be located in the Leon Levine Opportunity Center at the new Goodwill Opportunity Campus on Wilkinson Boulevard. 

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Jan. 18, 2017 – Novant Health announces a new system service line cancer leader, Dr. Steven Limentani, effective Jan. 1, 2017.  Limentani will lead cancer services across the Novant Health system covering a four-state area including hematology, medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgical oncology, gynecologic oncology and oncology research.

Winston-Salem, N.C., Jan. 18, 2017 - Today, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced over 359,000 clinicians  are confirmed to participate in four of CMS’s Alternative Payment Models (APMs) in 2017. Clinicians who participate in APMs are paid for the quality of care they give to their patients.  APMs are an important part of the Administration’s effort to build a system that delivers better care and one in which clinicians work together to have a full understanding of patients’ needs. APMs also strive to ensure that patients are in the center of their care, and that Medicare pays for what works and spends taxpayer money more wisely, resulting in a healthier country.

Thomason Award by the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society (CHPRMS). Everett received the award at CHPRMS’ fall conference on Dec. 8 in Charleston, South Carolina.

Winston-Salem, N.C., Jan. 11 – Novant Health has launched a new website for Spanish-speaking communities in the Carolinas to help them find providers that can meet their health care needs. The new website will also provide helpful health and wellness content geared to the Latino community.   

Huntersville, N.C., Jan. 9 – In December, Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center was awarded The Joint Commission’s colorectal cancer disease-specific care certification for a two-year period. Huntersville Medical Center is the fourth facility in the United States to receive this certification.

Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 5, 2017 – Novant Health Matthews Medical Center has received international recognition as a Baby-Friendly Designated birth facility, joining nine other hospitals designated in North Carolina.

Charlotte, N.C. Jan. 5, 2016 – Novant Health and Susan G. Komen Charlotte have been awarded a joint $200,000 grant over two years from Wells Fargo to fund breast health initiatives targeting underinsured and uninsured women in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties. Novant Health, Wells Fargo and Komen Charlotte are partnering through this grant to improve health literacy and education around the roles of genetics and cancer risk, as well as providing services to underserved populations including patient navigation, genetic counseling, genetic testing and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

SALISBURY, N.C., Dec. 19, 2016 – Novant Health is partnering with the YMCA of Rowan County to offer a free five-week comprehensive nutrition and weight loss program in 2017. Licensed professionals including registered dietitians, a health coach and a fitness trainer will lead the collaborative effort.

Winston-Salem, N.C., Dec. 16, 2016 – Peter S. Brunstetter, executive vice president and chief legal officer for Novant Health, joined a prestigious list of North Carolinians when he was awarded the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, the highest honor the state can give for those with a proven record of extraordinary service.  Justice Paul M. Newby presented Brunstetter with the award Dec. 14, 2016.
