The program administered by the American College of Surgeons is only given to those centers that are committed to providing the highest level of quality breast cancer care. Centers that are chosen undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of their performance.

Cancer fund renamed in honor of longtime Novant Health physician

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A Novant Health Foundation Forsyth Medical Center cancer fund has been renamed the Elms Allen Cancer Fund, and will be used to give support to cancer patients. The change was created to honor Dr. Elms Allen’s retirement from Novant Health after many years of service. Allen was instrumental in the creation of Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center’s  Derrick L. Davis Cancer Center.

Novant Health team members pledge more than $1 million to local communities

Winston-Salem, N.C., Feb. 22, 2016 – In 2015, 6,583 Novant Health team members pledged $1,398,759.74 to their local communities through the Novant Health team member giving campaign, Giving. Serving. Together. The campaign lasted from Sept. 21 to Oct. 30. The average per-person donation was $212.48. 

Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center opens respite rooms for patient families

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center opened four respite rooms that provide a private space where patient families can nap, shower or have quiet time. These rooms, funded by the physicians through Novant Health Foundation Forsyth Medical Center, will give families the separate space they need while spending countless hours in the hospital with loved ones.

New hyperbaric center and wound care clinic offers healing alternative

SALISBURY, N.C. – The new Novant Health Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center in Salisbury provides advanced care for patients with wounds that won’t heal through innovative therapy techniques. Since late October, the clinic has specialized in treating chronic, difficult-to-heal wounds, including surgical wounds, pressure ulcers, burns and foot ulcers caused by diabetes or poor circulation.

Novant Health pediatrician to be recognized for leadership and teaching

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Dr. Kirk Walker of Novant Health Forsyth Pediatrics in Kernersville will be inducted as an honorary member of Pi Alpha Honor Society on Sunday, March 6, at Elon University for his contributions as an educator of physician assistant (PA) students.
