Two Novant Health Vascular Diagnostics laboratories earn reaccreditation from the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., Feb. 1, 2017 – The Novant Health Vascular Diagnostics laboratories in Winston-Salem and Kernersville have been reaccredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in the field of vascular testing. Each reaccreditation is valid for three years.

IAC accreditation means that each laboratory has completed an extensive review process and demonstrated an ongoing commitment to quality patient care in vascular testing.

“The vascular specialists and registered technologists of Novant Health Vascular Diagnostics use the most advanced noninvasive diagnostic tools to analyze patients’ vascular systems, which include all the arteries and veins that carry blood to and from the heart,” said Regina Hartung, vice president of heart and vascular services for Novant Health. “We are proud to once again be recognized by the IAC as providing consistently high-quality, comprehensive care to the Triad community.”

Vascular testing is used to detect a number of life-threatening diseases, including heart disorders and stroke. On average, one American dies every 40 seconds from cardiovascular diseases, making these disorders of the heart and blood vessels the No. 1 cause of death in the United States. Stroke is the third-leading cause of death and the leading cause of disability nationwide, with nearly 800,000 new strokes occurring annually.

The IAC reaccredited Novant Health Vascular Diagnostics – Winston-Salem in the areas of extracranial cerebrovascular testing, visceral vascular testing, peripheral venous testing and peripheral arterial testing. Novant Health Vascular Diagnostics – Kernersville was reaccredited in the areas of extracranial cerebrovascular testing and peripheral arterial testing.
