Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center will host an educational session on the Health Insurance Marketplace (also known as the Health Insurance Exchange) for interested community members on October 23 at the medical center. This drop-in event, which will feature two formal presentations by expert speakers and the opportunity to sign up for plans with trusted brokers, will run from 3 to 7 p.m. with the formal presentations taking place at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.
“Navigating the Marketplace – including if you qualify for a federal subsidy - can be confusing,” said Shelbourn Stevens, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center president. “Novant Health is committed to providing our communities with the most up-to-date information on the Marketplace.”
As of Oct. 1, Americans who are uninsured, purchase their own health insurance or are looking for coverage that fits their budget may be eligible to purchase insurance through the Marketplace. At this informational session, an expert speaker will give an overview of the Marketplace, the enrollment process and coverage considerations. Trained staff will be onsite to address questions and sign up attendees for coverage through the Marketplace. All plans will:
- Cover doctor visits, hospitalizations, maternity care, emergency room care and prescriptions.
- Not deny coverage for pre-existing conditions.
- Show the plan cost in simple language with no fine print.
- Offer individuals the opportunity for financial assistance to assist with the cost of coverage.
