The public is invited to Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center’s dedication of a healing and respite courtyard located on their campus and generously donated by the hospital’s Foundation and volunteers. The dedication will be celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony and light refreshments on Thursday, September 19, at 10 a.m.
Shelbourn Stevens, hospital president stated, “We are excited about the impact the healing and respite courtyard will have on our patients by providing a tranquil outdoor space to reduce the stress created at times by a medical environment.”
Novant Health Foundation Brunswick Medical Center was formed in 2011 to assist Brunswick Medical Center in its mission to improve the health of our community, one person at a time.
“A touching focal point for visitors will be the engraved bricks donated by community members,” said Ben Styers, the Foundation board of directors’ chairman. “Epitaphs range from ‘born here’ to ‘in memory of,’ and we know each one holds special meaning to the donor.”
The courtyard is adorned with a variety of plants and trees along with seven arbor structures for shade. The courtyard was designed by Site Solutions of Charlotte, N.C., and constructed by Carolina Creations of Shallotte, N.C.
