WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Since January 2020, Novant Health and Novant Health Foundation have invested $25.5 million in community impact and health equity initiatives across North Carolina, made possible by funding, clinical expertise and a range of strategic programs. Together, these initiatives are designed to improve the key drivers of health, including access to care, food, housing, transportation, technology and workforce training and development.

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The American College of Cardiology has awarded Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center with Heart Failure Accreditation with Outpatient Services for its demonstrated expertise and commitment in treating patients with heart failure. The hospital is among only three in North Carolina to earn the accreditation, which is based on the ability to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients with heart failure through pre-hospital care, early stabilization, acute care, transitional care, clinical quality measures and more.

SHALLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health Medical Group has opened a new clinic in Shallotte to expand access to pulmonary and sleep medicine services in Brunswick County.

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Novant Health has added new physicians in partnership with UNC Health as part of commitments to increase access to pediatric specialty care in the Wilmington region. The initial phase of growth includes both adding new services so families can seek care locally and expanding existing services to shorten wait times.

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Heather King has been named president and chief operating officer of Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center. King previously served as chief nursing officer and director of operations of Novant Health Clemmons Medical Center in Clemmons, North Carolina, and will take the role effective Aug. 14, 2022.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A big smile spread across Olivia Reardon’s face last night as she and her parents Kevin Reardon and Christina Meyers presented a $500,000 charitable gift from the OliviaStrong Foundation to Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital at the 24th annual Novant Health Hemby Golf Classic. The funds will be used to support Hemby Children’s Hospital, which serves more than 100,000 children each year, to ensure that the hospital is well-positioned to meet the growing pediatric health care needs of the community.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Novant Health shared today that, in an effort to be as transparent as possible, it will begin mailing letters to some of its patients following possible disclosure of protected health information (PHI) resulting from an incorrect configuration of a pixel, an online tracking tool.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health, Martin Truex Jr. and Sherry Pollex recently celebrated the opening of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation Children’s Emergency Services with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center. The 5,000-square-foot children’s emergency services space located within Huntersville Medical Center will provide specialized treatment to children and teens in the Huntersville and Lake Norman area, where there was previously limited access.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health has named Ben Brodersen as the president and chief operating officer of Novant Health Ballantyne Medical Center, which is scheduled to open in 2023. Brodersen joined Novant Health Aug. 1.  

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health has announced Kim Henderson, senior vice president and chief of staff to the CEO, will now also serve as the enterprise patient experience officer for Novant Health. Henderson will continue to lead corporate health initiatives while assuming additional responsibilities to enhance and continually improve the overall experience of patients throughout the entire Novant Health system.  

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Novant Health Community Engagement is proud to announce that it has awarded $963,865 in charitable contributions in support of education initiatives to more than 50 community partners* in Charlotte, Winston-Salem and coastal North Carolina. The health system provides philanthropic support to community-based programs that address identified health and social needs vital to each community’s well-being, including developing healthy communities and expanding opportunity through education. Novant Health has provided nearly $2 million in charitable contributions to community partners over the past seven months.
