Novant Health tops previous record for safety and quality recognition by the Leapfrog Group

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Novant Health today announced that it has received straight A’s in the Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2021 Hospital Safety Grade scoring period. This makes Novant Health the largest healthcare system in North Carolina to ever achieve the highest mark for safety and quality across all of its hospitals. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit that evaluates the safety, quality and patient experience provided by hospitals across the country. 

Grant to Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center Foundation funds mental health program for middle schoolers

BOLIVIA, N.C. – Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center Foundation was awarded a $400,000 grant over three years from The Duke Endowment to provide telemedicine and telepsychiatry services to middle school students in crisis. Novant Health collaborates with Brunswick County Schools staff to complement existing services and fill service gaps in behavioral and substance use disorder treatment for Brunswick County students in sixth through eighth grade. The program aims to provide early intervention to quickly address crises and support students with severe symptoms of depression, anxiety and/or trauma, in addition to connecting families with appropriate care.

Novant Health to begin vaccine administration for children ages 5 to 11

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Following authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Novant Health today announced that it will begin administering the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5 to 11 on Thursday, Nov. 4.

Novant Health announces updated hours for COVID-19 testing locations

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Due to decreased demand, Novant Health today announced that it will reduce the hours of operation for its COVID-19 testing locations in Winston-Salem and East Mecklenburg. The health care system will also close COVID-19 testing operations at its Salisbury location.

Joining as the 22nd member, King is a respected healthcare consultant, providing strategic and operational advice to numerous industry stakeholders. King previously served in leadership roles at Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (Labcorp), one of the largest medical testing laboratory and drug development businesses in the world, including as executive chairman, chief executive officer, president and general counsel. He was instrumental in leading the company’s transformation from a pure-play U.S. testing laboratory to a global life sciences company. In 2019 Forbes named King to its list of America’s Most Innovative Leaders.

Novant Health and Martin Truex Jr. Foundation team up to improve access to emergency pediatric care

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – To better meet the needs of a fast-growing community, Novant Health, Martin Truex Jr. and Sherry Pollex today broke ground on a 5,000-square-foot children’s emergency services center within Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center. This $2.4 million investment will bring specialized emergency care to thousands of children and teens in the Lake Norman and Huntersville area who currently have limited access to, and choice of, nearby services.  

Novant Health recognized as 2021 CHIME ‘Digital Health Most Wired’ organization

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health announced today that it has been recognized by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives’ (CHIME) “Digital Health Most Wired” program for the fifth year in a row. The CHIME Digital Health Most Wired program conducts an annual survey to assess how effectively healthcare organizations apply core and advanced technologies into their clinical and business programs to improve health and care in their communities. Novant Health scored a 9 out of 10 in both acute and ambulatory care.

Novant Health enters next phase of construction for new critical care tower at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Novant Health has recently entered the next phase of its $400 million comprehensive capital investment plan at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center. The multiphase construction project initially launched in 2019, with phase 1 plans currently underway to renovate existing patient rooms and enhance the women’s and children’s center. Phase 2 was recently launched in coordination with design partners Gresham Smith and McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture, to construct a new five-story, 193,480-square-foot critical care tower. Each phase of the construction process is strategically designed to enhance the patient experience and improve access to critical care services in Winston-Salem and the surrounding area. 

Novant Health to begin administering booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine to eligible patients

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., — Following emergency use authorization by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Novant Health today announced that it will begin administering a single booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to individuals within certain populations on Monday, Sept. 27. To date, the healthcare system has administered over 550,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, which includes more than 277,000 fully vaccinated individuals.
