CAROLINA SHORES, N.C. – In 2017, Novant Health expanded physical therapy services to Calabash with the opening of a new outpatient physical therapy location at 9970 Beach Drive SW, Suite 1. The office recently relocated and is now providing services at the Novant Health South Brunswick Medical Plaza at 75 Emerson Bay Road SW., Suite 102, in Carolina Shores.

Novant Health to host eighth annual ‘Competitive Edge’ sports screening days

Middle and high school student-athletes can sign up for a free sports screening CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health is hosting the eighth annual “Competitive Edge” sports screening days for student-athletes in the greater Charlotte area. Sports screenings are required by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association before participating in any athletic activity. On May 19 and June 2, Novant Health will provide these screenings free of charge at various clinic locations.

Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center recognizes volunteers

BOLIVIA, N.C. – At a recent volunteer appreciation event, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center leaders recognized the hospital’s 222 volunteers for the 29,532 hours of time – and the vital contributions – they gave to the hospital in 2017. Traditional volunteers and volunteer chaplains were celebrated with a luncheon at the River Room at Lockwood Folly.

Board adds four new voting members WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health, a not-for-profit healthcare system serving the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia, has added four new voting members to the board of trustees: James F. Amos, a retired United States Marine Corps four-star general; Alvaro G. de Molina, a retired Bank of America executive; Christine P. Katziff, corporate general auditor of Bank of America; and Ian McDonald, a retired BAE Systems executive. Terms began Jan. 1, 2018, and end Dec. 31, 2020.

Novant Health to participate in National Drug Take Back Day

Novant Health will participate in National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 28. Over half of individuals who misuse pain relievers, and the majority of teenagers misusing prescription drugs, get the prescription from a friend or relative. Not only is it unlawful for controlled substance prescriptions to be transferred to any person other than the patient for whom it was prescribed, but doing so may cause others harm. Community members are encouraged to drop off unused or expired prescription medications at one of the participating Novant Health Pharmacy locations.

Novant Health hosts fifth annual “Ladies’ Night Out” event in Salisbury

The event is being held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, at the West End Plaza Event Center, located at 1935 Jake Alexander Blvd. in Salisbury. Attendees are encouraged to make a $10 donation to the foundation in place of admission to the event.

‘Stop the Bleed’ training program to help save lives in Union County

Someone can die from uncontrolled bleeding in as little as five minutes and a bystander’s ability to rapidly identify and control bleeding can mean the difference between life and death CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health has received a substantial grant to provide bleeding control kits and education to all 53 Union County Public Schools (UCPS). With these funds, Novant Health trauma team members will work collaboratively with UCPS to educate school emergency response teams, teachers, students and parents. The project aims to train approximately 6,000 Union County residents by the end of 2018.
