CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health is pleased to announce Brandon Neal as senior vice president and deputy chief legal officer. In this role, Neal will support Frank Emory Jr., executive vice president and chief legal officer for Novant Health, in all legal functions of the organization, including oversight for compliance and risk mitigation, as well as internal audit strategies and alignment throughout the organization.

In his most recent position, Neal served as managing counsel in the legal department of Wells Fargo in Charlotte. In this capacity, he led a team responsible for providing counsel to the company’s frontline businesses, enterprise risk, audit, members of senior management and the board of directors on all legal aspects of the company’s recovery and resolution planning efforts and related regulatory requirements. He also has experience at Wells Fargo providing legal support for capital markets, corporate banking (healthcare), government and institutional banking, and other lines of business. Prior to joining Wells Fargo, Neal practiced as a corporate associate for the law firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City.
Neal is native of Charlotte and has a passion for community involvement and service. Locally, he currently serves on the board of trustees of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, the board of directors of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Foundation and the board of directors of the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art. Beyond Charlotte, Neal serves on the national board of trustees of the National Urban League and the Duke Law Alumni Association board. In addition to his board service, he also serves as chairman of the Unite Charlotte Advisory Council (United Way of Central Carolinas) and co-chairman of Duke Alumni Association (Charlotte). He also is involved in numerous community endeavors and fundraising activities.
Neal graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He also holds his Juris Doctor from Duke University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina.
