CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health is pleased to announce Dari Caldwell as vice president of the Novant Health Foundation. In this role, Caldwell will focus on fundraising in Rowan County and beyond. For the past nine years, Caldwell has served as president and chief operating officer of Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
The Novant Health Foundation’s philanthropic efforts inspire giving that supports programs and initiatives that have direct patient impact. Novant Health regional foundations focus on the critical needs in five areas: infants and children; cancer; heart and vascular; stroke and neuroscience; and research and education.
“We are appreciative of Dari’s many contributions to Novant Health and we are proud to have her serve in this new role,” said Jesse Cureton, executive vice president and chief consumer officer, Novant Health. “Her new role offers the opportunity to continue to support our Rowan County community while raising much-needed funds for patients and programming in all of the communities we serve.”
During Caldwell’s tenure at Rowan Medical Center, the hospital achieved significant growth and brought many needed services to the community, including opening the Glenn Kiser Hospice House. Rowan Medical Center remains fully accredited by The Joint Commission and has earned some of the nation’s top honors in quality care, including Stroke Center certification, Chest Pain Center accreditation, Baby-Friendly designation and more. The hospital also became a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
Caldwell has always had a keen focus on improving patient satisfaction at the facility. Under her leadership, Rowan Medical Center has improved its scores, especially for the emergency department where its ratings improved from a 48% to over 60% for patients’ likelihood to recommend. The team has also reduced hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) by more than 70% in the past 18 months. Serious safety events were reduced to zero and the hospital team continues to see reductions in their 30-day readmission rates.
Gary Blabon, senior director of professional and support services at Rowan Medical Center, will be named as the interim president and chief operating officer of Rowan Medical Center.
