
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health has named Mark J. King vice president of research and innovation. In this new role, King will partner with physician leaders to expand clinical research opportunities and improve patient access to clinical trials. King joins Novant Health Monday, March 11.
In addition to identifying research opportunities to improve patient access to clinical trials, King will partner with Dr. Steven Limentani, senior vice president of oncology at Novant Health. In his new role, King will help physician leaders establish a foundation for the safe and compliant growth of Novant Health’s clinical research portfolio and develop relationships with pharmaceutical and device sponsors, academic centers and research partnerships. King currently serves as the assistant vice president of research administration for Atrium Health with responsibility for clinical trials and research operations across all therapeutic areas. He has helped advance the organization’s research agenda in oncology, neurosciences, cardiology, pediatrics, orthopedics, surgical services and other service lines. Prior to this role, Mark served as the assistant vice president for Levine Cancer Institute’s clinical trials office where he led the development of oncology clinical trials across the Carolinas.
King holds a bachelor’s degree in religious studies and a master’s degree in theology from Holy Apostles College in Cromwell, Connecticut. He is also a certified professional with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). King is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Research Community forum and the Greater Charlotte chapter of the ACRP.
King will report to Dr. Eskioglu.
