WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. ― Novant Health today announced the three site locations of its Welcome Back Fest street festivals in Charlotte, Wilmington and Winston-Salem.
The events, which are in July and August, will be held at the following locations:
- Saturday, July 24, at Romare Bearden Park in Charlotte, N.C.
- Saturday, Aug. 7, at Legion Sports Complex in Wilmington, N.C.
- Saturday, Aug. 21, at Corpening Plaza in Winston-Salem, N.C.
The healthcare system also recently revealed that Grammy Award-winning R&B singer Anthony Hamilton will headline each event.
“Being a part of Novant Health’s Welcome Back Festival is such an honor,” said Anthony Hamilton. “I believe in the work that Novant Health is doing and the care they have for our communities. This says a lot about their heart and integrity.”
All three events are free and open to everyone in the community. No registration or tickets are required. The first 1,000 people with proof of vaccination are eligible to receive a $10 food voucher for use with food vendors on-site. Vaccinations will be available at the event for both walk-ins and with pre-registration. Anyone can register to get their vaccine at WelcomeBackFest.com. As a reminder, there is no cost for the COVID-19 vaccine.
“We are excited to announce the site locations of our three street festivals, which are designed to celebrate how far we’ve come and the people who have helped get us to where we are,” said Kati Everett, Novant Health’s chief communications officer. “We’re also delighted to work with Anthony who has been a champion for health and safety during the pandemic, first by collaborating with Novant Health last year to spread important messaging about how to stay safe and healthy during the pandemic and now as the headliner for Welcome Back Fest.”
In addition to Hamilton, there will be an array of activations, games and entertainment for people of all ages. Novant Health continues to accept applications from local entertainers and food truck vendors to participate in the events:
Entertainers of all backgrounds are invited to apply at welcomebackfest2021.com/entertainers/. All performances must be musical, rhythmic or in another closely associated format. The selected entertainers will be compensated as part of their contract.
Food truck vendors are invited to apply at welcomebackfest2021.com/food-trucks/. Novant Health is looking for food trucks that represent different backgrounds and tastes, and all are welcome to apply. Those who are selected to participate will be offered a contract and will also be paid a flat fee of $1,000 at the conclusion of the event.
Novant Health is hosting the Welcome Back Fest street festivals to mark the progress made in the fight against COVID-19. The free community events, which are scheduled on three different days in July and August, aim to support diverse local businesses, honor healthcare heroes and celebrate the milestones reached with the help of community members.
