WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health, a not-for-profit health care system serving the Carolinas, Virginia and Georgia, added Joni Y. Davis as an ex-officio, nonvoting member to the board of trustees. Davis will replace Lee Myers as chair of the Southern Piedmont Region Board. Her term began Jan. 1, 2020, and will end Dec. 31, 2020.

Armato, president and CEO of Novant Health. “Our board of trustees is comprised of a diverse group of individuals who bring a wide variety of expertise to our organization.”
Davis is a Charlotte native and currently serves as the vice president and chief diversity and inclusion officer for Duke Energy. She is responsible for developing and executing strategies to build a strong culture of diversity and inclusion that strengthens the company’s recruitment pipeline, workforce and leadership team, as well as the communities the company serves. Davis has worked for Duke Energy since 1985 and has also served as vice president of marketing and customer engagement and vice president of large account management.
Davis is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and completed executive leadership postgraduate work at the University of Chicago. She is a current board member of the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts & Culture; and a past board member of Blumenthal Performing Arts, Foundation for the Carolinas-Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Foundation, N.C. Center for Nonprofits, Leadership Charlotte and the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce (past chairman). She is a senior fellow with the Charlotte Region Chapter of the American Leadership Forum and was previously named as one of the 25 most influential leaders in the Lake Norman area.
