Novant Health board of trustees welcomes new members

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Novant Health welcomes two new members to the board of trustees: Avery Hall Sr. and James (Jim) P. Taylor. Hall serves as chair of the Triad Region Board and Taylor serves as chair of the Southern Piedmont Region Board. Both positions became active as of Jan. 1, 2023.

Armato, president and CEO of Novant Health. “With their robust backgrounds in their respective communities, I know they will offer insight and guidance on how Novant Health can continue to best serve our neighbors and deliver on our mission of improving the health of our communities, one person at a time.” 

Hall is senior vice president/commercial banking lender at Wells Fargo in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he has served in various capacities for nearly 30 years. Hall has served as a member of the Novant Health Triad Region Board of Trustees since 2020, including as vice chair from 2021 to 2022, as well as a member of the Novant Health Kernersville Medical Center Foundation board in 2018. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Kernersville, the Appalachian State AA Diversity and Inclusion Accountability Team and is a lifetime member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. In 2019, he received the Outstanding Service Award from Appalachian State University, his alma mater, for his exceptional service to the university. Hall holds a Bachelor of Science in communication with public relations concentration from Appalachian State University, a Master in Business Administration from Pfeiffer University and completed Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University.   

Taylor is vice president of finance in the consumer lending segment of Wells Fargo in Charlotte, North Carolina. He served four terms as mayor of Matthews, North Carolina, before retiring from the position in 2018. Before being elected mayor in 2009, Taylor served on the Town of Matthews Board of Commissioners for five terms. Active in the Matthews community, he serves on the board of the Matthews Historical Foundation. Previously, he was a board member of the Matthews HELP Center, the Matthews Volunteer Fire Department and chair of the annual Matthews Alive Festival. Taylor also served the region as chairman of the Charlotte Regional Transportation Planning Organization and the NC League of Municipalities. He graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
