Manassas, VA, June 1, 2015 – Novant Health recently celebrated the opening of its new outpatient space to better provide the community with behavioral health services, including psychiatric evaluations, ongoing medication management and group therapy.
An open house and ribbon-cutting were held on May 28 for Novant Health Northern Virginia Psychiatric Associates and Novant Health Prince William Medical Center Intensive Outpatient Program for adults. Novant Health leadership, care team members and community members gathered for the event at 8644 Sudley Road, Suites 300 and 315. Previously, the outpatient services were co-located in the 32-bed inpatient building on Hospital Way.
"We are thrilled with this new space as the mental well-being of our community is just as important as the physical well-being of our community," said Vikram Khot, MD, medical director of behavioral health. "And to meet the growing need for these services allows patients and their families to stay close to home so they can remain functioning members of the community."
Novant Health Northern Virginia Psychiatric Associates provides outpatient psychiatric services to children, adolescents and adults, as well as inpatient adult care. Novant Health Prince William Medical Center Intensive Outpatient Program provides substance abuse programs to promote and support long-term recovery through education, self-awareness and personalized knowledge of addiction and the recovery process.
"With the new location, we have a greater opportunity to offer expanded programs and new providers to the community," said Karyn O'Brien, PsyD, clinical psychologist and director of behavioral health. "There is more space for group counseling and our patients have more privacy."
The intensive outpatient program services include:
- Substance abuse evaluations
- Inpatient detoxification referral
- Relapse prevention group
- Intensive group therapy for substance abuse
- Family support group (free community program)
