Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center benefit raises $220,000

Monies raised at Patrons’ Ball to fund new mammography technology 

Salisbury, N.C., Sept. 22, 2015 – Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center thanks all the participants at this year’s annual Patrons’ Ball for their generous support. The event held at Catawba College’s Peeler Crystal Lounge Sept. 12 raised $220,000. The funds collected from the benefit will be used to add special 3-D mammography technology at Rowan Medical Center’s breast center.

“We are so grateful to the patrons of the ball for their contributions,” said Dari Caldwell, president of Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. “The new 3-D mammography equipment will save countless lives by helping to identify breast tumors early on.”

The Foundation sends special thanks to the Patrons’ Ball planning committee co-chaired by Tracy Smith and Kari Comadoll, along with committee members Tippie Miller, Nancy Linn, Rachel Ross, Shari Graham and Hen Henderlite.

“Without the efforts of all the ladies on the planning committee, we couldn’t have had such a successful event,” said Rick Parker, director of Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center.

The theme of this year’s 25^th annual Patrons’ Ball was inspired by The Great Gatsby. Many of the patrons dressed in the style of the Roaring Twenties, with ladies in flapper gowns and men in long-tail tuxedos. The Salisbury Swing Band provided the entertainment during the outdoor social portion of the ball, while Virtual Sounds supplied the dance music following dinner. Best Impressions Caterers catered the meal.
