CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health is pleased to announce Dr. Jerome Williams Jr. as senior vice president of consumer engagement. Williams is a practicing interventional cardiologist and a longtime Novant Health physician leader. In his new role, Williams will lead Novant Health’s overall strategy for social responsibility programs, community engagement partnerships, and community impact and wellness programs that help address health disparities in communities across our footprint.
Over the past 22 years, Williams has held a variety of leadership roles at Novant Health. Most recently, he served as a physician leader for Novant Health’s value-based care business unit.

Williams has also held positions on a number of local boards and committees, such as the Urban League of the Central Carolinas; American Heart Association – Charlotte; South Charlotte Chapter of Jack and Jill of America Inc.; and Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, among many others. He is a founding member of both the Carolinas Association for Community Health Equity (CACHE) and BP Basketball Inc.
Born and raised in New York, Williams graduated from the City College of New York and earned his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York and a cardiology fellowship at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Recently, he earned his master’s degree in business administration from the Wake Forest University School of Business.
