A new center provides advanced wound care at Novant Health Prince William Medical Center
MANASSAS, VA, September 25, 2014 – Novant Health celebrated the addition of more specialized, convenient care for the community at an open house and ribbon cutting for Novant Health Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine. The new outpatient center located on the campus of Prince William Medical Center, at 8644 Sudley Road, Suite 115, Manassas, will provide state-of-the-art wound care, close to home.
Every year, millions of Americans with diabetes or circulatory problems develop non-healing wounds that limit their activity or even threaten their legs and feet. These problems will usually respond with the use of the latest advances in wound care therapy to provide specialized treatment for patients with difficult wound problems. The new center will offer advanced treatment options for wounds resulting from multiple conditions, such as diabetes, ulcers, infections and skin conditions, as well as hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
“Our multidisciplinary team is thrilled to be offering our community specialized wound care that is close to home,” said Gabriel Gluck, MD, medical director of Novant Health Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. “We’re dedicated to providing the individualized care needed to achieve complete healing of complex wounds.”
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) helps the body’s oxygen-dependent, wound-healing mechanism function more efficiently. While enclosed in a chamber at greater-than-normal atmospheric pressure, patients breathe pure oxygen, saturating their blood plasma and allowing it to carry 10 to 15 times the normal amount of healing oxygen to the body’s tissues. Up to 18 percent of wound care patients may require HBOT treatments, provided by our specially trained physicians and highly trained clinical hyperbaric technicians and staff.
The nearly 4,000 square foot center is comprised of two HBOT chambers, five exam rooms, offices and will begin treating patients next week.
