Get With The Guidelines and Mission: Lifeline achievement awards demonstrate commitment to quality care for patients
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Several Novant Health medical centers have been recognized by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association for exemplary care of patients. The awards recognize the hospitals’ commitment and success in ensuring patients receive the most appropriate treatment for stroke, heart failure and cardiac arrest according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines built on the latest scientific evidence.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, according to the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association. Stroke ranks at No. 5.
Novant Health facilities recognized by the associations received one or more of the following achievement awards:

- Get With The Guidelines-Stroke: Silver, Silver Plus, Gold or Gold Plus
- Get With The Guidelines-Resuscitation: Silver
- Mission: Lifeline-STEMI Gold Receiving Plus, STEMI Gold Referral, STEMI Silver Receiving Plus
The different award levels reflect the amount of time the hospital demonstrates performance. To receive one or more of the awards, hospitals must adhere to proven quality indicators known to speed patient recovery and reduce death and disability for patients.
