Novant Health recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Forty-seven Novant Health specialty clinics were recently recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) for providing quality, patient-centered care. The NCQA recognition is given to specialty clinics that focus on improved communication and coordination with primary care, by tracking patients over time and across clinical encounters, integrating care plans, and involving patients and their loved ones in planning and goal setting. The Novant Health clinic specialties spanned from community medicine, including rheumatology, dermatology, endocrinology and infectious disease, to heart and vascular and neurosciences.

Additionally, 138 Novant Health primary care clinics – 100 percent of eligible clinics – were recognized by the NCQA as part of its patient-centered medical home program. In the medical home model, Novant Health primary care physicians lead other team members in their roles to ensure that patients get appropriate care at the right place and right time to support their optimal health. The model also helps ensure coordinated care with specialists, improved access to care using technology, and a patient-provider relationship that keeps patients and their families actively involved in their health.

“This recognition acknowledges Novant Health’s commitment to our patients. We will deliver integrated, proactive, patient-focused, team-based care that improves quality, outcomes, patient experience and access,” said Dr. John Phipps, executive vice president and president of Novant Health Physician Network. “We are honored to receive this recognition and look forward to implementing additional changes in our relentless pursuit of the best possible experience and outcomes for our patients.”
