Novant Health to Manage Morehead Memorial Hospital

Winston-Salem, N.C. – June 25, 2014 – Novant Health announced today an expanded agreement to manage Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C. Following a shared services agreement announced in January, 2014, the two organizations will enter into a deeper, more integrated partnership to reduce costs and expand services. Novant Health, in collaboration with the Morehead Board of Trustees, will place the CEO of Morehead.

“Morehead Memorial is always evaluating its operations,” said R. Scott Barham, Morehead Memorial Hospital board chairman. “By deepening the relationship with Novant Health to a management agreement, we will be able to more efficiently leverage resources and find value.”

The team at Morehead Memorial Hospital will continue to work closely with the Novant Health greater Winston-Salem market team.

The five-year agreement is effective July 1, 2014.

Morehead Memorial Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital located on a 22-acre campus in central Eden. It is licensed for 108 acute-care beds and 121 long-term care beds. The main campus is home to inpatient and day hospital services, a state-of-the-art emergency department, a birthing center, a nursing center, a cancer treatment center, and three office buildings for physicians. There is an active medical staff of 64 physicians and a consulting/courtesy staff of 35.
