Haymarket, Va., July 6, 2016 – This year, Novant Health UVA Health System Haymarket Medical Center is celebrating its second anniversary.
Haymarket Medical Center first opened to the community March 26, 2014 with 60 beds, four operating rooms, a 24-hour emergency room and a wide range of services, including imaging, laboratory, maternity, surgical and rehabilitation services.
The four-story/221,000 square foot medical center was Novant Health’s first prototypical facility designed with patients, caregivers and the community in mind with lean thinking to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.

Opening Haymarket Medical Center added more than 200 jobs to the community. Since it has been in operation, the medical center has added services, including bariatric surgery, and has consistently scored in the top decile for patient satisfaction. In satisfaction surveys, more than 80 percent of patients polled this past year said they would recommend Haymarket Medical Center to family and friends.
Since 2014, there have been more than 1,000 births at Haymarket Medical Center and more than 47,000 visits to the emergency room.
In 2015, Haymarket Medical Center provided approximately $1.9 million in charity care and since the facility opened, nearly 6,000 people have been served through various community support programs, health education lectures, health screenings and other community events. Specifically, some of these programs include:
- Blood pressure screenings.
- Diabetes screenings.
- Balance testing.
- Diabetes education classes.
- Nutrition/weight management education classes.
- Heart health education classes.
- First aid stations and community events.
In 2016, Haymarket Medical Center became part of Novant Health UVA Health System, along with Novant Health Prince William Medical Center and UVA Culpeper Hospital.
