Charlotte, N.C., Jan. 12, 2017 – Kati Everett, vice president of public relations and corporate marketing partner for Novant Health, was recently recognized with the John L. Thomason Award by the Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society (CHPRMS). Everett received the award at CHPRMS’ fall conference on Dec. 8 in Charleston, South Carolina.
The John L. Thomason Award is the highest honor presented by CHPRMS and has been given since 1986 to a CHPRMS member to recognize professional excellence in the public relations field, as well as outstanding community service and civic achievements. Nominations for the award are made by CHPRMS members and the submissions are reviewed by a panel of past winners.
For the past 25 years, Everett has dedicated her career to pursuing and achieving excellence – both in the public relations field and in her community volunteer activities. She has led brand marketing and communications initiatives, created differentiating marketing materials and managed public relations and internal communications campaigns that have resulted in increased external and internal engagement.
“I have seen firsthand Kati’s drive for personal and professional excellence,” said David Duvall, senior vice president of marketing & communications, Novant Health. “She is an engaging leader and brings a sophisticated approach to navigating complex issues and situations. This award is well-deserved and I am honored to work with her.”
Everett has served on the board of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, participated in the marketing committee for the American Heart Association and facilitated strategic planning for the local Susan G. Komen Foundation. She also served as a volunteer for Taylor’s Tale – an organization created by one of her employees after her employee’s younger sister was diagnosed with Batten’s Disease, a fatal condition that currently has no cure. Everett has dedicated her time to the local arts community by participating on the grants council for the Charlotte Arts & Science Council and the marketing committee for the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte.
Everett has participated in the Junior Woman’s Club, served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and served as the committee chair for the William A. Hough High School Band Boosters program. She is a past elder at Meadowlake Church and a current member of Davidson United Methodist Church.
