Pediatric Art Fundraiser to Support Grier’s Gallery at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital

Charlotte, NC – November 13, 2014 – Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital is excited to partner with Sozo Gallery and Rohr Rockstars to launch Grier’s Gallery to help provide creative art lessons for inpatient Hemby and outpatient Novant Health Blume Hematology & Oncology patients, and to provide a dedicated hospital space to display their work. Grier's Gallery is established in memory of Grier Martin Christenbury, a 9-year-old boy who lost his six-year battle to neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer of the nerve cells, on November 26, 2013.

To launch this incredible program, Sozo Gallery, led by owner Hannah Blanton; and Rohr Rockstars, spearheaded by Trish Rohr, have come together to create a fundraiser to ensure its lasting success. On Friday, Nov. 14, Sozo Gallery will host an open artist reception highlighting the glass works of local artist Carmella Jarvi. Additionally, artwork from Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital and Novant Health Blume Pediatric Hematology & Oncology patients will be auctioned off, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward Grier’s Gallery.

The mission of Grier’s Gallery is to bring the healing and restorative power of art to children facing medical challenges. Grier's Gallery believes strongly in promoting healing, transforming the hospital experience and bringing a bit of joy to our patients and families. The Grier’s Gallery display at Hemby Children’s Hospital is set to open in early 2015.
