Novant Health and Nucleus Medical Media Collaborate on Patient Education Initiative

Novant Health and Nucleus Medical Media have signed a two-year collaborative agreement to study the effectiveness of using medical animation for patient education. In October 2015, Novant Health began integrating medical animations, created by Nucleus, into a new health literacy program. The program will serve patients with heart failure and pneumonia in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. 

Novant Health Cancer Center acquires new radiation technology

Manassas, Va., Nov. 23 –Novant Health Cancer Center recently added the TrueBeam STx system, an advanced radiation treatment that performs image-guided stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) and stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) to tumors in hard-to-reach areas such as the lungs, brain and pancreas.

Amy and Overton Harper named 2015 Outstanding Emerging Philanthropists

Winston-Salem, N.C., Nov. 10 – On Nov. 9, Amy and Overton Harper were recognized as the 2015 Outstanding Emerging Philanthropists by the Triad Chapter of Fundraising Professionals. The award recipients were recognized during the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon at the Grandover Resort & Conference Center in Greensboro. Amy and Overton are generous donors to Novant Health Foundation Kernersville Medical Center.

Novant Health announces dually accredited family medicine residency program

Charlotte, NC, Nov. 10, 2015 – Beginning in 2016, residents who want to practice family medicine will have an opportunity to complete their training with the Novant Health Family Medicine Residency in Cornelius, North Carolina. The family medicine residency faculty members are actively interviewing fourth year medical students – six of whom will become Novant Health’s first resident physicians in July 2016.

Novant Health Franklin Medical Center to close

October 7, 2015
LOUISBURG, NC – Oct. 7, 2015 - Novant Health Franklin Medical Center announced today that it will cease operations Oct. 16, 2015, following several years of declining utilization. Hospital leaders have notified the state and are working closely with patients on an individual basis to coordinate ongoing care. Hospital employees will have access to outplacement assistance from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, which may include job fairs, financial planning workshops, interest/aptitude assessments and other specialized services.

Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center benefit raises $220,000

Monies raised at Patrons’ Ball to fund new mammography technology  Salisbury, N.C., Sept. 22, 2015 – Novant Health Foundation Rowan Medical Center thanks all the participants at this year’s annual Patrons’ Ball for their generous support. The event held at Catawba College’s Peeler Crystal Lounge Sept. 12 raised $220,000. The funds collected from the benefit will be used to add special 3-D mammography technology at Rowan Medical Center’s breast center.

Novant Health cardiologists aim to keep heart failure patients out of the hospital

Tiny microchip inside the heart monitors vitals remotely before heart failure symptoms strike    Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 2, 2015 — Cardiologists at Novant Health Heart and Vascular Institute began today implanting tiny, microchip sensors in patients with advanced heart failure to better monitor symptoms and reduce patients’ chances of returning to the hospital.  The implantable sensor, called CardioMEMS HF System, is the nation’s first and only Food and Drug Approved wireless heart failure monitor that has been shown to reduce hospital readmissions and improve quality of life for many heart failure patients.

Novant Health raises awareness about breast health

Novant Health Breast Center mobile unit to be on-site at upcoming events

The Novant Health Breast Center mobile unit will be on-site at the events, providing state-of-the-art digital mammography by a team of female technologists.
