Partnership aims to improve supply chain access to minority business owners in healthcare Winston-Salem, N.C. – Novant Health announced today a new collaboration with the Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance (HSDA) in Richmond, Va., Tuck Business School at Dartmouth (Tuck) in Hanover, N.H. and Novation in Irving, Texas that is designed to offer an executive training program for minority business owners in the healthcare industry, creating pathways to potential opportunities for historically underutilized businesses.

Juliana and Daniel of Gainesville, VA, welcomed their baby boy on March 27 at the new Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center located at 15225 Heathcote Blvd., near the intersection of Interstate 66 and Route 15. At 8 pounds, 12 ounces, their son Isaac was delivered at 10:24 a.m. by Dr. Eugene Louie-Ng of Novant Health Lake Manassas OB/GYN with offices in Gainesville and South Riding, VA. Baby Isaac, younger brother to older sister Victoria, will claim the distinction of first baby born at Haymarket Medical Center. As part of the distinction, the family received a large gift basket from the Novant Health Auxiliary filled with local goodies.

Health system reports net income of $273 million and community benefit of $566 million Novant Health announced today the 2013 audited financial results for the not-for-profit healthcare system. For 2013, the system reported a net income of $273 million on operating revenue of $3.6 billion. The system also reported a community benefit of $566 million, including $129 million of direct charity care.

Northern Virginia gets a new hospital; located near the intersection of I-66 and Rt. 15 Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center opened its doors earlier this morning for care and services. The new four-story, 60-bed community hospital will serve the growing and diverse northern Virginia community. The 221,000-square-foot facility, designed to transform healthcare, houses a full complement of services, including emergency care, surgery, cancer care, women’s and children’s services, including maternity care, imaging, cardiac diagnostics, interventional radiology and critical care.

New technology allows patients to check-in for appointments Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center recently launched state-of-the-art, self-service kiosks that decrease patient registration wait times, reduce paperwork and increase patient privacy. Patients can use these kiosks to check in for pre-registered appointments at the push of a button, making their healthcare experiences simpler and more convenient.

Novant Health Sleep is offering a new online treatment program for patients with insomnia. SHUTi ™, or Sleep Healthy Using the Internet ™, is a six-week interactive online program for adults with insomnia. This online therapy provides short-term improvements and long-term relief for insomnia through learning modules and guides tailored to individual sleep goals.

Novant Health announced today a shared services agreement with Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC that is designed to improve access to quality healthcare, facilitate operational best practice sharing, and improve the affordability of care.
