WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – When faced with extremely sensitive issues involving the pelvic floor, patients are often embarrassed to discuss such private things with their family and closest friends. Some find it so uncomfortable that they delay or even avoid getting treatment. To help with this, Novant Health will open the Novant Health Carolinas Pelvic Health Center on June 27 in Winston-Salem, the region’s first comprehensive, patient-centered approach to pelvic floor issues.

Novant Health Foundation Presbyterian Medical Center received a $46,500 grant from the Colon Cancer Coalition to fund colon cancer screenings and to provide financial support to patients fighting colon cancer.

She has nearly 20 years of experience in a variety of hospital and medical group roles, including vice president of the Heart & Vascular Institute at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

Matthews, N.C., June 20, 2016 – Novant Health has recently extended its genetic counseling program to Matthews. Ashley Kaminski, certified genetics counselor, is now accepting and seeing patients at Novant Health Cancer Specialists Matthews on Thursday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m.

Charlotte, N.C., June 10, 2016 – Novant Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Victoria Lore to Novant Health Rankin OB/GYN. Lore joined the clinic in June and is delighted to begin accepting new patients. She will be seeing patients at the Randolph Road clinic, located at 1918 Randolph Road, Suite 670, in Charlotte. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Charlotte, N.C., June 8, 2016 – Novant Health Randolph Pediatrics has partnered with Smart Start of Mecklenburg County to offer a Reach Out & Read program at their clinic. The program provides age-appropriate books at each well visit to all children age 6 months through 5 years. Reach Out & Read puts a special emphasis on children growing up in low-income families, where children are most at risk for reading failure.

Charlotte, N.C., June 6, 2016 – At Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center, doctors are using brachytherapy, a form of radiation therapy, to treat nonmelanoma skin cancers. Using a device called the Leipzig applicator, it offers a noninvasive approach to treatment by delivering radiation directly to the skin lesion. This alternative to surgery targets cancer cells without pain or damage to surrounding healthy tissue.

Charlotte, N.C., June 3, 2016 – Effective June 1, Novant Health Randolph Pediatrics is changing its name to Novant Health Pediatrics South Ballantyne. This name change only affects the South Ballantyne location and not the Fairview Road location. The clinic is located at 16139 Lancaster Highway, Suite 110, in Charlotte.

Bolivia, N.C., May 17, 2016 – Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center is pleased to announce it is now offering palliative care consults for patients through a partnership with Lower Cape Fear Hospice. The palliative care team is available to assess patients, make recommendations, attend family meetings and coordinate care.
