Cancer Center adds stereotactic radiosurgery for enhanced cancer care close to home Gainesville, VA, September 11, 2014 – Novant Health leadership, trustees, auxilians, physician partners and community representatives gathered to celebrate the addition of more revolutionary cancer care for residents of northern Virginia. Novant Health Cancer Center located at the entrance of the Lake Manassas community has acquired the TrueBeam™ system, which was engineered to perform sophisticated radiosurgery procedures with pinpoint accuracy and fine precision.

Winston-Salem, N.C., Aug. 26, 2014 – VHA Central Atlantic recognized Novant Health with 13 awards for excellence in clinical care, honoring nine facilities for meeting or exceeding national performance standards and improving the patient experience.

Grant awarded helps fund mammograms for women in need Charlotte, NC – August 4, 2014 - Novant Health Cancer Care is the recent recipient of a $15,000 grant from GreaterGood.org, an organization dedicated to improving the well-being of people, pets and the planet.  This grant helps provide screening mammograms and diagnostic procedures to women 35 and older who are economically disadvantaged or uninsured. 

Charlotte, NC, July 21, 2014 – In June, Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center was approved by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) to receive trauma patients. To get approval, Presbyterian Medical Center merged its license with Novant Health Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital, and is in the process of making multiple upgrades to its emergency department, operating rooms and helipad. Through Presbyterian Medical Center’s application, it has shown NCOEMS it is prepared to care for patients as a Level II trauma center.

Charlotte, NC, August 6, 2014 - Each year, Charlotte Magazine surveys licensed physicians in the Charlotte area to find out which of their peers they would choose if they or a loved one needed care. Physicians receive an online survey and are asked to make their selections without regard to hospital, clinic or health plan affiliations. Lake Norman Community Health Clinic transitions from paper to electronic health records. Charlotte, NC, August 4, 2014 – After the successful implementation of an electronic health record system across more than 400 physician clinics and eight hospitals, Novant Health has extended its impact to the broader healthcare community.

Honorees across the system recognized for excellence in nursing Charlotte, NC, July 30, 2014 - Thirteen Novant Health registered nurses have been named to the prestigious Great 100 Nurses in North Carolina list by Great 100, Inc., an organization that recognizes nursing excellence and provides scholarships to nursing students at all levels across the state.

Bolivia, NC, June 30, 2014 – Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center recently implemented two in-hospital TV channels that are delivered directly to patient rooms and waiting areas featuring health topics ranging from diabetes to heart disease to general health and wellness. The Patient Channel is available throughout the hospital, while The Newborn Channel is available exclusively in the medical center’s maternity area.

Winston-Salem, N.C. – June 25, 2014 – Novant Health announced today an expanded agreement to manage Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, N.C. Following a shared services agreement announced in January, 2014, the two organizations will enter into a deeper, more integrated partnership to reduce costs and expand services. Novant Health, in collaboration with the Morehead Board of Trustees, will place the CEO of Morehead.

Bolivia, NC, June 16, 2014 – At recent volunteer appreciation events, Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center leaders recognized the hospital’s 145 volunteers for the 31,941 hours of time they contributed to the hospital in 2013, as well as the numerous contributions home volunteers make to the medical center. 

Jeff Lindsay accepts position of executive vice president and chief operating officer for Novant Health. Winston-Salem, NC – May 23, 2014 – Jeff Lindsay has accepted the newly created position of executive vice president and chief operating officer for Novant Health effective June 1. In this role he will help position Novant Health for the growth and transformation the system will experience in the future. Lindsay will join Novant Health’s executive team in overseeing strategy for the entire organization.
