Novant Health approved as partner for New Hanover Regional Medical Center

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. ― In a 4-1 vote today, Novant Health was approved to partner with New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners. The agreement was signed by both health care systems and New Hanover County. The approved partnership will also expand NHRMC’s medical education and clinical capabilities by increasing the services and training presently offered by UNC Health and UNC School of Medicine at NHRMC.

New survey finds majority of residents support hospital partnership

WILMINGTON, N.C. ― A survey conducted by a third party on behalf of Novant Health found 72% of the survey respondents believe a partnership between Novant Health, New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) and UNC School of Medicine would have an overall positive impact on the community and only 10% felt there would be a negative impact.

15 Novant Health hospitals highlighted in 2020 Healthcare Equality Index

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. ― Novant Health is proud to announce that 15 of its acute care facilities have been recognized as “Leaders in LGBTQ Healthcare Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) civil rights organization. This is the fourth year in a row that Novant Health has received systemwide recognition.

Novant Health to centralize COVID-19 respiratory assessment and screening centers in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Beginning Sept. 10, Novant Health will restructure its respiratory assessment and screening centers to one central location in Winston-Salem. The new screening center will open Monday, Sept. 14, at the former Sears Auto Center located at 190 Hanes Mall Circle. Hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Screenings are available without a referral or appointment.

Novant Health launches program with prescriptive analytics leader Jvion

Initial program aims to reduce congestive heart failure readmissions by 5% WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Last year, as part of the Novant Health Institute of Innovation & Artificial Intelligence, Novant Health announced a partnership with Jvion, a leader in artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled prescriptive analytics for preventable harm. This month, the partnership allowed Novant Health to launch the congestive heart failure readmission reduction program, which was implemented at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. 

Novant Health to be featured during Military Makeover on Lifetime TV

The special edition, “Operation Career,” captures stories of military veterans who have transitioned out of the military and back to civilian life. The spotlight will feature interviews with two Novant Health team members about their transition from military service to healthcare and will air Aug. 31 and Sept. 7 at 7:30 a.m.

Revolutionary technology gives patients immediate relief of debilitating tremors      CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Novant Health today announced it is the first in the Carolinas to offer a scalpel-free treatment for essential tremor and medication-refractory tremor-dominant Parkinson’s disease. The new option – called MR-guided focused ultrasound – uses sound wave energy to treat brain tissue that is the source of the tremor. No surgical incision or anesthesia is necessary, and many patients experience immediate and significant reduction in hand tremors, which can make daily activities challenging.
