A child’s legacy lives on through large toy donation to Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital Pediatric patients will now have hundreds of additional toys to make their stay at Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital more enriching. On Sept. 3, a local family donated 350 plus toys, which will be shared between Hemby Children’s Hospital and the Novant Health Blume Pediatric Hematology & Oncology Clinic, in honor of 4-year-old Connor—who beat cancer but lost his battle to HLH (Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis) in March of this year.

Novant Health has named Donald Sedgley as the new president of Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center. Sedgley has more than 23 years of experience in healthcare operations, systems measurement, clinical improvement and program management. Responsible for providing overall strategic direction, leadership and operational oversight of Novant Health’s 15th medical center, Sedgley will oversee the 60-bed, $100 million, four-story facility that will employ a staff of 200-300.

Twenty-five year veteran in marketing, communications and business development to lead hospital system’s unified brand efforts Novant Health has hired David Duvall as the new senior vice president of marketing and communications. Duvall has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, communications and business development. He replaces Jim Tobalski who recently retired after 13 years of service.
